Milton Lee's Story
Life
23-Dec-08
Hello, I hope all is well with all the Spartans Class of 1970, and anyone else that was once a part of our past growing up, especially my teachers.
Write something about myself! you got to be kidding me. I
flunked English and had to retake it in summer school, they wanted me to take a foreign language. I told the counselor I was taking a foreign language "ENGLISH" LOL. Thank God for Ms Barath and her willingness to teach me.
I have lived in Rison, Arkansas(70 miles south of Little Rock) for the past 24 yrs. I am divorced and have been single for 5 years now. Have three fantastice kids, one son and two daughters, and now three grandkids, one of which I have the pleasure of seeing every day.
My daughter Sandy and I own and operate a Cabinet Shop . We live in the country and I walk to work, peasefull walk with no traffic.
Hobbies have changed over the years, once very active in hunting and fishing and water sports, also had a small herd of cows and even had some Buffalo, now I raise and train Missouri Fox Trotters and most recently I have taken up flying and now have my Private Pilots License. I have been a member of the Civil Air Patrol for the past four years. In July I was appointed Squadron Commander of the 67th Composite Squadron in Monticello,AR.
1970 was a mark in our history and a lot has happened sence then. Most events from that time till now where planned and some where not. One event in my...Expand for more
life that was not planned was for our family to be involved in the War in Iraq. My daughter Sandy was in the Arkansas Army National Guard and served as a Medic. She and her unit was deployed and sent to Iraq 3 weeks after the fall of Baghdad. She and others left kids and familly behined to serve their country. In Sandy's case she left her son behined who turned 4 yrs old three weeks after she left. I had the honor and privlage of my grandson living with me for the year Sandy was deployed. She wrote a letter to her son every single day she was gone and I got to read them to him, how great is that!!
In 1970 I could never have fathomed the way somethings turned out in my life, but I am sure none of us could.
Looking back at the class of 1970, I would have to say that if not all then most had woundeful events take place in their lives and made the best out of the not so wounderful ones.
We can't live in the past but it is nice to visit the past once in a while, I think of those high school years and the faces that filled the halls and class rooms. And then I try to imagine what all of you are doing now, and that is when I tell myself "STOP DAY DREAMING AND GET BACK TO WORK, MAKE SOME MONEY SO YOU CAN PAY THE BILLS AND THEN GO PLAY"
Again I wish the best for the class of "1970" and do not forget our teachers.
